In response to the action month for Agent Orange victims, from August 18 to 27, 2014, the Central PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Joint Stock Company (PVFCCo Central) in collaboration with the Red Cross Society in provinces including Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang City, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa and Kon Tum, along with PVFCCo Central’s local dealers organized the program “Appeasing the orange pains” with the total funding of 55 million dongs from the Social Security Fund.
This is an annual program of PVFCCo held in August in an effort to contribute to appeasing and sharing with the losses, disadvantages, supporting and encouraging unfortunate victims and families suffering from this sequela. Most of Agent Orange victims are from poor households in dire financial conditions because they have lost their working capacities and their familities must physically take care of them and spend a lot of money for medical expenses.
The representatives of local Red Cross Society recognized and thanked PVFCCo’s attention and sharing with Agent Orange victims in recent years aimed at encouraging and supporting the families of Agent Orange victims to overcome difficulties, better taking care of them.
Reportedly, the Central – Western Highland is the region most suffering from pains and losses as the war consequences, considered as the hot spot with the highest dioxin concentration in the country where the Orange disaster has been and will be destroying Vietnam’s next generations and environment. Terrible and serious consequences caused by Agent Orange/Dioxin and lasting until now to more than 3 million Agent Orange/dioxin victims in Vietnam will keep affecting Vietnam’s next generations and environment.
