On September 28, 2013, at Lam Ha district, Lam Dong province, Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) with PVFCCo SE in collaboration with Lam Dong Agriculture and rural development department organized a seminar to transfer technical fertilizer use and fix of yellowing of leaves on coffee plant to farmers.
Attending the seminar were leaders of the provincial Agricultural promotion station, Plant protection association, leaders of the district, cooperatives, fertilizer agents, media agencies and over 170 local households growing coffee plant.
Lam Dong province has a large area for growing coffee plant which is one of the staple crops of farmers. Thus, the need of fertilizers for the cultivation each year is quite high and technical fertilizer use has a significant impact on the coffee plant growth, productivity and economic efficiency of farmers.
Recently, some coffee plantation owners in Lam Ha district said that the plants had lighter green colored leaves and showed signs of yellowing although they were nourished with a quite large amount of fertilizers in rainy season. The technical service department of PVFCCo and PVFCCo SE together with the Agriculture and rural development department, the Plant protection association of Lam Dong province came to have a check of the real situation and proposed technical measures to help fixing the problems. One moth after applying the special trace elements adding and balancing fertilization process, the coffee plantations turned green again. This is one of the main contents that PVFCCo wants to communicate through the seminar: care for users of Phu My fertilizers and transfer of technical fertilizer use to local farmers.
The seminar attracted attention and positive response of local professionals, press media and particularly local farmers on measures allowing to correct the yellowing of leaves on the coffee plant in Lam Dong province.
