PVFCCo’s youth learns about Vietnam”s sovereignty over Spratly and Paracel Islands

On November 17, 2012, in Ho Chi Minh City, the PVFCCo’s Youth Union held a contest to “Learn about Vietnam”s sovereignty over Spratly and Paracel Islands” broadcast live from Hanoi, Binh Dinh, Vung Tau and Can Tho TV points.
This is one of the practical activities of PVFCCo’s youth in responding to and implementing the movement “Youth’s action for borders, seas and islands “, providing PVFCCo”s personnel and Youth Union with knowledge and understanding of sea, island sovereignty, contributing to awareness of protection, preservation of the country”s seas and islands.
Attendees of the Contest as invited guests included Mr. Duong Trung Quoc – Historian, Member of the National Assembly; Col. Pham Manh Hung, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Navy Region 4; Lt. Col. Nguyen Hong Bang – Political chief, Youth Union Secretary of Brigade 162; Lt. Col. Nguyen Minh Chien, Vice Chairman of Politics, Brigade 125; Lt. Vu Van Doan representing the Southern Navy Political Department. PVFCCo”s representatives included Mr. Cao Hoai Duong, Member of PetroVietnam”s Party Executive Committee, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, PVFCCo”s President & CEO; Deputy and President & CEO, leaders of professional Offices / Divisions, representatives of member units, Trade Union organizations, Veterans Association of PVFCCo and employees, Youth Union members from PVFCCo’s member companies in Ho Chi Minh City as well as at the TV live coverage points. Board of examiners was led by Mr. Duong Trung Quoc as the Head of Board, members included Mr. Le Van Quoc Viet – Member of Standing Party Committee, PVFCCo’s Deputy President & CEO and Mr. Tong Xuan Phong – Member of Standing Party Committee, Chairman of Trade Union, Chief of PVFCCo’s Party Committee.
The contest attracted the participation of nine teams from PVFCCo’s Youth Union units all over the country. The teams went through three items: “Introduction and talent”, “Knowledge of the seas and islands” and “Poster propaganda” one after another. Through the performance of the teams, the contest brought audiences with moments of emotion, more in-depth understanding of the nation history, the territory integrity, the sea sovereignty; beloved, brave and heroic images of navy soldiers; quiet moments with the thoughts and feelings of people in remote islands; feelings, contributions from the rear in general, petroleum industry and PVFCCo in particular for seas and islands.
At the end of the contest, “Toc Tan” team from Southwest Youth Union Branch won the first prize and “Tien Nu” team from the Alliance of PVFCCo’s Office Youth Union Branch and HCMC Branch won the Second Prize with very close results. “Thuyen Chai” team from the Southeast Youth Union Branch achieved the third prize, the remaining teams received encouragement prizes. The contest left a very strong impression on the audience as well as contestants and insiders. It did not only attract the exciting participation or promotion of hundreds of employees at every television live points on Saturday morning but also evoked feelings, pride, love and practical actions for seas and islands and therefore, everybody won the special prize of emotion, solidarity spirit, army – people love, love of Vietnamese country.
