On November 30, 2013, PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation in collaboration with local authorities organized the inauguration ceremony of B Minh Tan Elementary School, Minh Tan commune, Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province.
Attendees of the inauguration ceremony, from Vi Xuyen district, included Mr. Hoang Thanh Tinh – Vice Chairman of People’s Committee, Ms. Le Thi Tuyet Van – Head of Education Department; from PVFCCo was Mr. Cao Hoai Duong – PVFCCo’s President & CEO, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Dung – PVFCCo North’s Chairwoman.
B Minh Tan Elementary School located about 30km from the center of Ha Giang City, is a school of region 3 commune with 258 pupils, 100% of ethnic minorities, including 215 pupils of poor families. The School was in very difficult situation with no teaching facilities, using the hamlet’s old headquarters as the school headquarter and classroom area. In such circumstance, PVFCCo funded 2.5 billion VND to build the new school consisting of school headquarters, classroom area with 5 classrooms and auxiliary works such as clean water tank, water supply system, toilets, and internal yard and pathways. Construction was started in 7/2013 and the School was ready for inauguration after 5 months of urgent construction.
On the occasion of this inauguration ceremony, PVFCCo also donated gifts worth over 100 million VND, including 5,160 notebooks, 58 scholarships, 31 gifts to teachers and pupils of the school. At the same time, PVFCCo also planned to keep funding equipment, furniture, fences, and concrete yard for improvement of the entire school.
Speaking at the ceremony, local leaders and the school Principal were deeply moved with the kind support of PVFCCo for the local, teachers, and pupils of this border highland commune still plagued with many difficulties.
