In the morning of September 15, 2014 PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo)in collaboration with the local authority organized the inauguration ceremony of Son Lang Primary School at Son Lang Commune, K”Bang District, Gia Lai Province to facilitate minority children in going to school.
Attendees of the ceremony included Mr. Bui Van Cuong – alternative member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Business Bloc; Mr. Nguyen Mong Hoang – Member of the Standing Party Committee, Head of Personnel Board of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee. On the part of PVFCCo’s leadership, Mr. Le Van Quoc Viet – PVFCCo’s Vice President attended the ceremony.
The construction of Son Lang Primary School was started from April, 2014 with total investment capital of VND5 billion, in which PVFCCo sponsored an amount of VND4 billion, funded from PVFCCo’s Social Security budget in 2013-2014. The school covers a total area of 500m2, including the 2-storey block with 8 classrooms. The classrooms are fully equipped with learning tools and instruments for the pupils.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Quoc Viet expressed his belief that with its new premises and enthusiasm, dedication of the teachers, Son Lang Primary School would contribute to teaching and learning, improving the quality of education at the commune. Also at the ceremony, PVFCCo donated 500 notebooks to pupils of the school.
Reportedly, Son Lang is an agricultural commune challenged by many difficulties with high rate of poor households accounting for 50% and low literacy rate. The commune has 4,000 inhabitants, in which the Kinh, Ba Na people and others make up 57.80%, 41.02% and 1.18%, respectively. The completion of Son Lang Primary School right on the occasion of new school year is a very significant event, contributing to relieving the shortage of schools and classes in the commune, and helping the minority children to go to school.
