In the morning of 18/08/2014, Central PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Joint Stock Company (PVFCCo Central) in collaboration with the School board of Nhon Chau Junior High School awarded 60 gifts worth VND21,600,000 including scholarships and books to the poor pupils who overcome difficulties in life at Nhon Chau Island Commune, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province.
Reportedly, Nhon Chau Island Commune (also called as Cu Lao Xanh) is 24 km away from the main land, influenced by many adverse factors of the weather. People on the island live mainly on coastal fishing and aqua culture and experience hard life as their incomes are totally dependent on the conditions of the nature. The commune has justonly a kinder garten and a junior highschool. For further education, the pupils must move to the main land, as a result, many pupils with difficult family situation have to quit school to earn a living the hard way and this is also the reason of mass drop-out rate after pupils complete their junior high school graduation.
Addressing the program, the local authority and school expressed their acknowledgment and thanks and considered PVFCCo’s program as apractical and humane support, contributing to sharing difficulties with the pupils, helping them buy books for the new school year 2014-2015. This is also a gift to encourage pupils to try to study well and overcome themselves.
