Earth Hour is a worldwide event first organized in 2007 by the World Wide Fund for Nature to support action for environmental sustainability. Households and businesses participate to this event by turning off their lights for one hour from 20h30 to 21h30 on the last Saturday of March to take action on environmental protection and against the impacts of climate change.
From 20h30 to 21h30 on March 23, 2013, Vietnam will once again participate in Earth Hour together with other countries across the world with the slogan “Not only turn-off lights for one hour”. This event aims to make big changes in people’s action of all classes about energy efficiency and climate change through creative and media activities. Over the years, this event has created a big buzz in the awareness of Vietnamese people about causes and consequences of climate change, among which wasting energy and energy inefficiency is one of the main causes.
