(source: pvn.vn) PVN’s President & CEO Do Van Hau’s business trip to the Russian Federation from June 16 to June 20, 2014 for attending the 21st World Petroleum Congress (WPC) in Moscow, the Russian Federation, resulted successfully. On this occasion, many important documents were signed, meetings with major partners took place, contributingto the enhancement and acceleration of the cooperation between Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and Russian petroleum corporations and companies.

 World Petroleum Congress – WPC, known as the “Olympics of the oil and gas industry”,coveredall areas in the oil and gas industry, from scientific and technological advances in upstream and downstream to the role of natural gas and renewable energy sources, and management of socio-economic and environmental impacts of such sources.

 In 2014, surpassing the U.S. and Columbia, Moscow was honorably selected by the World Petroleum Council to host the 21st WPC.As the biggest international petroleum event, it is where the cutting-edge technological, technical and scientific achievements are exhibited and introduced by petroleum companies world-wide. WPC is also where managers and leaders of petroleum and petroleum services companies meet to exchangeand update their experiences as well as sharing future developing trends of the oil and gas industry. The 21st WPC this year, with the theme “Responsibly Energising a Growing World”, attracted over 100 leaders from state-owned and non-state-owned enterprises, 5000 delegates, 500 speakers, about 500 companies from over 50 countries and 25,000 visitors.WPC focused on 4 main sessions, with many sub-committees, forums and round-table workshops each, on (i) Exploration and Production of Oil and Natural Gas; (ii) Petroleum Refining, Transportation and Petrochemistry; (iii) Natural Gas Processing, Transportationand Marketing; and (iv) Sustainable Management for the Petroleum Industry.

 In the framework of the 21st WPC event, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group had an exhibition booth with the participation of 6 member affiliates, i.e. PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), Vietnam – Russia Joint Venture – Vietsovpetro, PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services Corporation (PVD),PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PVGas),and Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited (BSR). Modernly designed and highlightingPetroVietnam’s potentialof petroleum exploration – exploitation, natural gas production and trading, refining –chemical-based processing, especially the capability to provide highly technical services of PVN member affiliates, PetroVietnam’s booth contributed to the promotion of and highlighting Vietnam’s traditional culture, thereby, thousands of visitors from various countries as well as international petroleum companies were attracted to it. On WPC opening day, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, who was then in Moscow to attend the 21st WPC, also visited PetroVietnam’s booth and highly evaluated PVN’s participation in this important event.
