HNM – Vietnam Food Association (VFA) said that, in the last 10 months, businesses have exported more than 6.4 million tons with a total turnover of USD 2.9 billion, up by 2.7% compared to the same period in 2011, but with the average price reduced by USD 40.3 / ton.
According to VFA forecast, with the remaining contracts for 1.1 million tons of rice to be delivered to end of this December, Vietnam may export 7.5 million tons of rice this year. However, at this time, after some difficult season period, India is strongly boosting rice export again at selling prices lower than Vietnam by USD 20-30 / ton so customers in the world will shift to India rice.
In addition, customers have more choices from Pakistan and Myanmar with rice export prices lower than those of Vietnam. Currently Vietnamese 15% broken rice is offered at USD 445 / ton, 25% broken at USD 435 / ton.
