(Source: Chinhphu.vn) – According to a recent report from Vietnam Food Association (VFA), from Aug 2 to 8, regular class dry rice price at warehouses in Mekong Delta varied from 5,350 to 5,450 dong/kg, long grain unmilled rice from 5,550 to 5,650 dong/kg, increasing by 50 dong compared to last week.
Material rice prices have gone up by 50 – 100 dong/kg, first class material rice used to produce 5% broken rice is roughly 7,150 – 7,250 dong/kg depending on individual areas, 25% broken rice is 7,000 – 7,100 dong/kg depending on quality and individual areas.
Finished rice prices have risen by 100 dong/kg, 5% broken rice without package sold outboard is 8,200 – 8,300 dong/kg, 15% broken rice is 7,750 – 7,850 dong/kg and 25% broken 7,400 – 7,500 dong/kg depending on quality and individual areas.
Rice prices have risen due to high export demand, meanwhile, rice businesses are doing their best to buy more rice to fulfill the Government’s Summer – Fall contemporary storage program.
However, in VFA’s point of view, the strong competitiveness in the fourth quarter will put more pressure on rice export prices due to the small differences among countries’ prices and most of them are lowering theirs.
