Chairman of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) – Mr. Phung Dinh Thuc said that, in 2012, the Group has basically exceeded the targets and tasks as planned for 2012 and the growth rate has increased higher than that of 2011. Total sales of member units reached 772,700 billion dongs in 2012, increasing of 14.4%, and contributing 186,300 billion dongs to the sector’s budget, increasing 15.8% compared to that of 2011.
Total profit before tax reached 113,100 billion dongs, equal to 119.4% of the year’s plan, and increased 12.4% compared to 2011. Notably, the oil and gas industry achieved the reserves amount of 48 million tons equivalent to 137.1% of the year’s plan; 5 new oil and gas contracts and 2 joint research agreement in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have been signed, and 7 mines/projects including 4 local and 3 overseas ones have been put into operations.
Total oil production of 2012 reached 26 million tons, equal to 104.8% of the year’s plan, increasing 8.7% compared to 2011. In particular, oil production reached 16.7 million tons, equal to 105.6% of the year’s plan, increasing 9.8% compared to 2011. Gas production reached 9.3 billion m3, equal to 103.3% of the year’s plan, increasing 6.9% compared to 2011. Power production and supply to the national power grid reached 15.1 billion kWh, equal to 109.0% of the year’s plan, increasing 12.2% compared to 2011.
According to Mr. Thuc, in 2013, Petrovietnam also targets to increase the reserves to 35-40 million tons and exploit the equivalent amount of 25.2 million tons. Since December – 2012, the Group has delivered the plans to member units to their active implementation from the very beginning of 2013. Accordingly, the organization strictly control the oil and gas activities in East Sea; progress of exploration, development and deployment mining projects in 2013; and ensure completing the reserves and production of oil and gas volume in 2013 as planned.
