(pvn.vn) Within the framework of her official visit to India, in the afternoon of 10th December 2016, Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan had a meeting with Mr. Dinesh Kumar Sarraf, President and CEO of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) and Mr. Narendra K. Verma, Chairman and Managing Director of ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL). Attending the meeting were also leaders of some ministries/ departments, commissions of the National Assembly and Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam.
At the meeting, Chairman of the National Assembly expressed her pleasure at the important development steps in the cooperation between the two countries in the last 45 years. In particular, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Vietnam in September 2016, the two countries have successfully upgraded their relation to a comprehensive strategic partnership, creating an important new framework to make the cooperation between the two countries become more reliable, comprehensive and practical in all aspects.
With regard to cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas industry, Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan affirmed that Vietnam always supports and encourages Indian petroleum companies to enter the open oil blocks on the continental shelf of Vietnam. She kindly requested Indian partners i.e. ONGC/ OVL to research other cooperation opportunities which are considered as Petrovietnam”s strengths. She also expected India to introduce and facilitate Petrovietnam to participate and cooperate in the potential oil and gas projects in India and third countries.
In the afternoon of the same day, in New Delhi Capital, Petrovietnam Chairman of the Board of Directors Nguyen Quoc Khanh and the Petrovietnam working group also had a meeting with Mr. Dinesh Kumar Sarraf, President and CEO of ONGC and Mr. Narendra K. Verma, Chairman and Managing Director of OVL. The two parties reviewed their cooperation in recent years, including implementation of some oil and gas contracts of ONGC/ OVL in Vietnam, as well as studied and evaluated some new cooperation opportunities in the near future.
The cooperative relationship between PetroVietnam and ONGC/ OVL was built long ago and has been developing well. In particular, ONGC / OVL have been implementing petroleum activities in Vietnam under the signed petroleum contracts including PSC 06-1, PSC Block 128 offshore Vietnam. Especially, ONGC is actively working with its partners to implement development operations in Phong Lan Dai Field (PLD) with the aim of bringing the field into operation in the 4th Quarter of 2018. ONGC also looks forward to cooperation opportunities with Petrovietnam and PVEP to develop other oil and gas fields in Vietnam. In addition, ONGC appreciates the technical capabilities of PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) who is currently involved in building exploitation drilling rigs for one of ONGC’s projects in India.
