On 30th January 2012, in Ca Mau, Petrovietnam and Ca Mau Gas – Electricity – Fertilizer project management board held a ceremony to announce the first commercial products of Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant(Khanh An commune, U Minh District, Ca Mau Province).
Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung – Prime Minister, Mr. Le Kha Phieu – Former General Secretary of Vietnam Communist Party and many leaders of the Ministries, the Central Government sectors as well as leaders of the South East and South West provinces.
This is the event of Petrovietnam to celebrate Lunar New Year 2012 – Year of Dragonas well as celebrate the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant is located in Khanh An commune, U Minh district, Ca Mau Province. The total area is about 62 ha, near PM3 – Ca Mau gas pipelines, close to the consumed market, convenient transportation, especially waterway. It meets the requirements of construction and development (land, geology, and hydrology), electricity supply, water supply, convenient trafficfor construction, minimizing environmental impacts, low construction costandhigh operation efficiency because of low migrate compensation costs and well-located material gathered. The plant has a capacity of 800,000 tons of urea per year, with total approved investment is approximately US$ 780m of which EPC contract value is US$ 563m.
Currently, The Project Management board and the contractor are maximizing the work force, determined to complete the running test, with commercial products and hand over the plant in February 2012.
