On 21 May, 2012, Petrovietnam Fertilizer & Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo.) and North Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Joint Stock Company (PVFCCo North) in collaboration with Nghe An Agriculture Encouragement Center held a workshop on summarizing the model to improve the efficiency of Phu My urea usage on rice and also introducing Phu My NPK products to farmers.
Nghe An is the 2nd largest province in term of rice cultivation area in North Vietnam (after Thanh Hoa). It is considered as one of the big consumption markets for urea of PVFCCo North and is expected to witness strong competition from Ha Bac urea, Ninh Binh urea in the coming time when Ninh Binh Fertilizer Plant supplies its products to the market (with capacity of 560 thousand tons/year).
As such, it is utmost essential to carry out the technique transfer task through the experimentation model and promote the introduction of PVFCCo products and brand to farmers to build the customer trust.
According to harvest data, rice yield in the 2 models in Yen Thanh and Dien Chau districts achieved nearly 8 tons/ha, which is higher than that of the mass production fields by 0.3 to 0.5 tons/ha. This is a relatively high level of productivity and famers, leaders of districts and experimenting co-operatives have rated PVFCCo’s model deloyment and technique transfer very practical in application and dissemination.
