To help Petroleum organizations with opportunities to exchange, discuss and share experience on maintenance and repair of Petroleum processing plants, today (January 22, 2016), in Danang, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN) successfully held the Conference on Maintenance and Repair of Petroleum Processing Plants. This is the 3rd Conference held by PVN, hosted by PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo).

Attendees included Mr. Phan Dinh Duc – member of PVN’s Member Board; Mr. Le Manh Hung – PVN’s Vice President, Mr. Le Cu Tan – PVFCCo’s BOD Chairman, Mr. Doan Van Nhuom – PVFCCo’s President & CEO, and leaders of other companies: PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (PVCFC), Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited (BSR), Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI), PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), PetroVietnam Insurance Corporation (PVI), Petrovietnam Petrochemical and Textile Fiber Joint Stock Company (PVTEX)…

At the Conference, discussions were focused on common and major concerns of Petroleum plants such as: Application of management tools in maintenance and repair work (planning, progress and workload management…) and learned lessons; Corrosion and anti-corrosion issues at Petroleum processing plants (corrosion risk assessment, corrosion management strategy).

To address these key issues, the delegates delivered 5 speeches on: Strategy, solution and advanced management toolkit applied in the 3rd overall maintenance to improve reliability of Dung Quat Oil Refinery during 2016-2021; current status of corrosion at Phu My Fertilizer Plant; corrosion control at Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant, shortcomings and learned lessons; orientation and solutions for anti-corrosion protection to ensure safe operation of Dung Quat Oil Refinery during 2016-2020; application of corrosion management model/system in petroleum production and processing facilities to improve safe operation and long service”. The delegates were in enthusiastic discussion and raised questions to speakers to clarify their speeches and share their anti-corrosion experience during operation and maintenance of Plants…

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Le Manh Hung – PVN’s Vice President appreciated and praised organizations for the good implementation of the conference on maintenance and repair of Petroleum processing plants, the Conference was a good preparation step for future plant operation and development. He rated that the Conference speeches were of high quality and correctly addressed concerned issues. He also requested: while PVN encountered major challenges and difficulties due to oil price stumble, petroleum processing units should optimize their operation and improve their management for better competition and further development in the future; he further reminded them to raise awareness of assessment on corrosion and anti-corrosion issues to ensure safe plant operation as well as production cost minimization; after the Conference, the units should develop overall assessment on and solution to both common issues (pipeline and stationery equipment corrosion) and specific issues (environment, operation conditions); PVN’s Petroleum Processing Division and Vietnam Petroleum Institute should develop joint documents and solutions specific to each unit’s anti-corrosion work; conducting research on new technologies for more detailed assessment on corrosion, saving cost and handling time; improving personnel development and training activities.

Also at the Conference, today, the three units namely PVFCCo, PVCFC, BSR entered into a service and personnel supply contract in support of maintenance and repair work among them. This serves as a solid basis of cooperation for mutual development and inner strength improvement. Reportedly, since 2012, under PVN’s close guidance, PVFCCo, PVCFC and BSR have executed a number of collaboration agreements on Supporting and sharing of materials, spare parts, personnel, technologies and training… for plant maintenance and repair work.
