From October 10th to 13th, 2024, at the Phu My Fertilizer Sports Center (Phu My Town, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province), nearly 600 “athletes” from 27 sports teams representing 10 member unions of the Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) participated in the 16th PVFCCo Traditional Sports Festival – 2024. This event was organized by PVFCCo’s Trade Union to celebrate the 15th PetroVietnam Cultural Week and the 20th PVFCCo Traditional Day (September 21, 2004 – September 21, 2024).
Attending the award ceremony and closing event on the morning of October 13th were Mr. Tong Xuan Phong, a standing committee member of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group’s Trade Union, member of the Party Committee, and Chairman of PVFCCo’s Trade Union; Mr. Pham Chi Trung, Secretary of PVFCCo’s Youth Union; Mr. Luong Phuong, Vice Chairman of PVFCCo’s Veterans Association, along with the Standing Committee, Executive Committee of PVFCCo’s Trade Union, unit leaders, and nearly 600 athletes from 27 sports teams of various PVFCCo units.
The athletes competed in nine events: table tennis, soccer, badminton, tennis, Chinese chess, chess, athletics, tug-of-war, and sack races. With many new and creative competition formats suited to the characteristics of each unit, this year’s festival was considered the most exciting and enthusiastic one yet. Many athletes surpassed their expectations, boldly registering to compete. Athletes from distant units like PVFCCo-PMB, PVFCCo-PCE, and PVFCCo-PSW quietly trained all year and traveled long distances to gather at the Phu My Sports Center for the competition. Throughout the event, the sports festival was a platform full of effort, sportsmanship, solidarity, teamwork, and personal growth.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Tong Xuan Phong, Chairman of PVFCCo’s Trade Union, emphasized that the PVFCCo Traditional Sports Festival not only promotes physical fitness and health but also fosters stronger connections between units. It also aligns with the motto “One team, one goal,” motivating PVFCCo employees to enthusiastically contribute to the company’s production and business goals for 2024. He also extended his gratitude to PVFCCo’s leadership and the leadership and unions of the units for their support and facilitation, which contributed to the success of the sports festival.
After days of intense competition, along with the fair judging of the referees and organizers, the 16th PVFCCo Traditional Sports Festival – 2024 concluded successfully with numerous awards. Specifically, the Head Office team won first place overall (5 gold, 1 silver, and 6 bronze medals), the Packaging Company team came second overall (2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals), and the NPK Workshop team secured third place overall (2 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals). The Special Products team and Dong Nam Bo Company team both received consolation prizes (each team earned 2 gold medals, with the latter also earning 4 silver and 1 bronze medal).
At the closing ceremony, PVFCCo’s Trade Union also recognized and rewarded individuals and teams who won gold medals at the Group’s sports competition, held during the PetroVietnam Cultural Week.
