In the night of January 14, at Hanoi Opera House, the People Newspaper coordinated with Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam Farmers Association and Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) to organize the writing contest about “Agriculture – Farmers – Rural areas” in 2012.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Vu Van Ninh – Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Vu Ngoc Hoang – Deputy Director of Central Standing Committee of Propaganda; Mr. Thuan Huu – Chairman of Vietnamese Journalist, Editor-in-Chief of People Newspaper. From the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group was Mr. Le Minh Hong – Deputy Director of the Group. Representatives from PVFCCo were Mr. Bui Minh Tien – Chairman of the BOD, Mr. Cao Hoai Duong – President & CEO of PVFCCo.
The program that has been organized by People Newspaper and sponsored by PVFCCo aims to honor the authors who have won the writing contest about agriculture, farmers and rural areas. After launching for a period of time, the contest has received positive response from the journalists, experts and authors across the country. 19 outstanding writings have been selected and awarded at the ceremony, specifically: 1 A-Prize, 3 B-Prize, 5 C-Prize and 10 Encouragement Prize. Passing over 300 entries, the writing “Stick to the sea for enrichment” of authors Le Duc Nghia, Minh Tri and Trinh Ke won the first prize of the contest.
Particularly among the awards given, author Duong Thi Kieu Nhi – Financial Accounting  Specialist of SouthWest Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Joint Stock Company (PVFCCo SW) was excellent to achieve the C-Prize with her writing “Help farmers of Mekong Delta to approach loans”. This is the second consecutive time that the author has won the contest (her writing “FDI inflows and agricultural development at the Southern Delta” won the Encouragement Prize in 2011).
The awards have given a vivid picture of agriculture, farmers, rural areas of the country as well as positive points and limitations in the process of building the new countryside. Thereby, it contributes to improve the quality of propaganda works on agriculture, farmers and rural areas; positively affect to the socio-economic development, especially in the economic and agricultural labor restructuring; improve the material and spiritual life of farmers; contribute to the poverty alleviation; ensure political and social security, and gradually change the modern rural appearance.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh highly evaluated the contest and desired that the press will keep promoting propaganda and improving performance method in order to consolidate the information and policies of the Party and the State in respect of agriculture, farmers and rural areas. Deputy Prime Minister had given flowers to leaders of People Newspaper, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam Farmers Association and PVFCCo to cheer for the success of the contest.
From the success of the Writing contest in 2012, on behalf of the Organization Committee, Mr. Thinh Giang – Deputy Editor-in-Chief of People Newspaper had launched the contest and subject in 2013.
