On August 21, 2015, PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) held the “Conference on Learning Experience Lessons from Overall Maintenance of Phu My Fertilizer Plant” in 2015. Attendees of the Conference from leadership of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) included Mr. Le Hong Thai, Head of HSE Committee, and from PVFCCo, Mr. Tu Cuong – Vice President and Plant Director, Mr. Hoang Viet Dung, Vice President, Mr. Le Van Quoc Viet – Vice President and representatives of the BOD, BOM, functional divisions, leaders of member companies and leaders, outstanding employees directly engaged in overall maintenance in 2015.

At the beginning of the program, the Conference listened to Mr. Le The Dong – Head of Technical Department of the Plant reporting on overall maintenance in 2015. Accordingly, the Plant’s overall maintenance has satisfied 04 criteria on safety, quality, progress and cost. Nearly 4000 work items were handled, especially completed inspection of quality of weld joints at branch pipes, 100% experience lessons learned from the overall maintenance in 2013 were implemented and applied in this year overall maintenance. The workers involved in maintenance followed the plan, quickly handled any arising problems and officially turned out urea products at 23:55 on June 26th, 2015 at 100% capacity, 2 days ahead of schedule, yielding benefits of tens of billion VND dongs to PVFCCo.

Then, to help delegates have a closer view on specific tasks of overall maintenance, the maintenance teams and technical units presented their reports on issues such as: Hazop and its necessity in the Plant operation stage; Problems, causes and recommended solutions for overall maintenance of the Reforming team; Equipment inspection methods – reliability and application;  Problems, causes and recommended solutions for overall maintenance of the Control Valve team; Safety tasks and problems, recommended solutions for overall maintenance of the Safety team; Planning and identification tasks arising in the overall maintenance in 2015. Their speeches were received with exciting discussion and exchange in the spirit of frankly accepting any weak points, welcoming constructive suggestions from delegates, from there issues were resolved, experience lessons learned for subsequent overall maintenances.

Addressing the Conference, Mr. Le Hong Thai praised the Plant and relevant units for successful implementation of overall maintenance, completing all targets. He also raised attention to some issues of the Plant maintenance and operation such as:  reminder about fatigue, erosion of pipes – specially branch pipes; establishing data bases for monitoring equipment in the Plant; criteria on safety, quality of sub-contractors; requiring the connection of the Plant’s activities with those of projects under construction or about in operation to ensure safety.

At the closing of the Conference, the leadership of PVFCCo summarized discussions at the Conference, highly evaluating preparation work, program agenda and results of this Conference, from there drawing valuable experience lessons for subsequent overall maintenances.
