The fact that expanded NH3 unit of PVFCCo was timely completed for commercial operation when the market is growing positively has doubled up PVFCCo”s joy in the threshold of Lunar New Year 2018.
In addition to maintaining its leading position in the domestic fertilizer business, PVFCCo also focused on developing chemical production, especially petroleum chemical products and specialized chemicals, aiming at the goal that sales from chemical sector accounts for 50% of total sales by 2020.
To realize this goal, on April 08 2014, the Board of Directors of PVFCCo approved of the Investment Construction Project of “Upgrading the capacity of NH3 factory of Phu My Fertilizer Plant” by more than 20% of its design capacity, equivalent to an increase of 90,000 tons/year (from 450,000 tons/year to 540,000 tons/year), using the technology of Haldor Topsoe A/S (Denmark).
After organizing an international open bid in accordance with Bidding Law, PVFCCo awarded the contract to the of Technip (TPIT – Italia) and PTSC as the main contractor for the project and EPC contract was signed on June 06, 2015. The return of Technip – the main contractor that built Phu My Fertilizer Plant with a very good quality – makes PVFCCo more confident in the success of this new capacity development project, since the integration to the existing NH3 plant is an extremely complex task that should be done by a well-known contractor with solid understanding of Phu My Fertilizer Plant.
The construction started on September 18, 2015 and lasted until November 2017 when PVFCCo- the Owner, and TPIT-PTSC Consortium- the Contractor, successfully did the tie-in and commissioning of the NH3 Unit revamping project. This successful tie-in was thanks to the contributions of engineers and workers of PVFCCo that have experienced in the operation of Phu My Fertilizer Plant since its first day.
