In the morning of August 27, 2016, at the Nhon Binh office and storage, PVFCCo Central held the Flood Prevention Drill 2016 with the participant of Emergency and Rescue Command Committee and PVFCCo Central’s Emergency and Rescue local force.
The drill was organized to ensure the active role in rescue operation, handling skill by assigned duties in an emergency situation caused by storm and flood. In addition, plans, schemes and facilities have been supplemented to effectively respond to emergencies, given the Central region about to begin hurricane season in 2016.
The hypothetical situation occurred at 7 am on August 27, 2016, due to the effect of storm, heavy rain lasted for long time in Gia Lai, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, risking the dams in neighbor provinces discharging flood water and potentially inundating some areas in Binh Dinh Province. In that circumstance, PVFCCo Central’s Emergency and Rescue Command Committee held an emergency meeting to identify, evaluate and implement response plans, flood prevention, deployed forces, operated facilities, coordinated the forces and resources to promptly respond to emergency situations caused by floods, to minimize the damage to property, goods and the safety of rescue forces.
The drill was carried out seriously and guaranteed the requirements set out under assignment: from installing, reinforcing of dykes, operating pumps to prevent flooding from man holes, covering canvas to protect goods, moving equipment and materials to high place etc. The drill has contributed to reinforcement of organization and management abilities in responding to emergency storm and flood; propaganda for improvement of employee’ awareness, ensuring the active role, preparation and getting ready when a storm or tropical depression occurs; promoting the ability in mobilizing the total resources with motto “4 strengths at place” for the operation of storm and flood prevention and disaster relief of PVFCCo.
