According to PVFCCo’s summary report on production and business activities in 2017, although facing countless difficulties and challenges, PVFCCo made efforts in all activities and managed to achieve very encouraging results.

In the morning of Dec 29, 2017, at its headquarters in HCMC, PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) successfully held the Conference on Summary of Party Tasks, Production and Business Activities in 2017, implementation of action plan in 2018.

Attendees included, on the part of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), Mr. Nguyen Vu Truong Son, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, Member of BOD, PVN’s General Director; Mr. Dinh Van Son, Member of Party Committee, Member of BOD; Mr. Le Manh Hung, Member of Party Committee, PVN’s Deputy General Director; Mr. Nguyen Sinh Khang – Member of Executive Board of Party Committee, PVN’s Deputy General Director; Mr. Nguyen Manh Kha, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union.

And on the part of PVFCCo were Mr. Le Cu Tan – Member of Executive Board of PVN Party Committee, Secretary of PVFCCo Party Committee, Chairman of BOD; Mr. Doan Van Nhuom – Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, President & CEO of PVFCCo together with representatives from Party Committee, BOD, BOM, Supervisory Board, leaders of functional divisions, member units, political organizations and unions.

Mr. Le Cu Tan reported to the Conference on the results of implementation of political and party tasks in 2017. In 2017, Party Committee together with Board of Directors, Board of Management led and instructed PVFCCo’s employees to prepare programs, plans and solutions to fulfil political and operational tasks successfully, which resulted in production and business achievement on even over the targets; taking initiative in implementing key investment projectssuch as NH3-NPK Complex project… In addition, the Party Committee also instructed all Party members to thoroughly understand and satisfactorily implement the resolutions and directives of the superiorParty Committee levels; guided the organization of Party congresses at lower levels for 2017-2020 tenure successfully; directed the review, amendments and additions of practical provisions, regulations, procedures in order to make PVFCCo’s management and administration more professional; and gave directions synchronously and innovatively, enhancing the leading role of party organizations at all levels, associating the leadership of the Party to the inspection and supervision, while strictly implementing the Party’s regulations in order to keep building a clean and strong party organization.

In 2017, Party Committee of PVFCCo issued decisions to admit 24 new party members, recognized the official party membership of 26 reserve members; frequently sent elite candidates and new party members to participate in Party refresher courses and political theory courses for prospective candidates and new party members organized by Party Committee of PetroVietnam and political training Centers. As of 30/11/2017, the Party Committee had 09 affiliated party organizations and 601 party members, including 572 official members and 29 reserve members.

Regarding the business performance, Mr. Doan Van Nhuom reported to the Conference that PVFCCo had faced remarkable difficulties and challenges in 2017, including wildly fluctuating and unpredictable fertilizer prices and supply quantity home and abroad; agricultural production was adversely affected by unexpected abnormal weathers, natural disasters such as unseasonal rains, heavy and persistent floods; fake and poor quality fertilizers that went rampant…

In that situation, PVFCCo’s team had made great efforts in all activities and achieved very encouraging results. Specifically, Phu My Fertilizer Plant always maintained its safe and stable operation and implemented the overall regular maintenance at the end of 2017. This is the largest and most complex maintenance in its 13 years of operation because apart from regular maintenance it also involved in the tie-in of the existing plant  to NH3  Unit revamping project.

In 2017, production output of Phu My Urea (including equivalent NH3 output) was estimated at 825,939 tons – accounting for 107% of annual plan. Sale of Phu My Urea equivalent was estimated to reach 810, 887 tons – representing 103% of annual plan, continuing to secure over 40% urea market share of nationwide. Sales of other fertilizers was estimated at 379,421 tons – representing 122% of annual plan. In addition, the important milestone of PVFCCo in 2017 was to mark the output 10 million tons of Phu My Urea in both production and trading.

In general, PVFCCo maintained the market share of Phu My Urea and achieved positive growth for Phu My MOP, Phu My NPK … and effectively supported the country’s agriculture by providing stable high-quality fertilizer sources, contributing to the overall performance of PetroVietnam in 2017.

Regarding the execution progress of the chemical technology NPKplant,PVFCCowas currently performing commissioning and expected to launch its first commercial products in 2018. In addition, PVFCCo also made thorough preparations for manpower for operating staff, the market for its products, raw materials for testing and operation of new plants.

Participants at the Conference also listened to the representatives of member companies, regional subsidiaries presenting on their production and business performance, especially the overall maintenance of Phu My Urea Plant, implementation of the complex project of NH3 unit revamping – and construction of the chemical technology NPK plant …

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Vu Truong Son congratulated and praised PVFCCo’s personnel for having overcome difficulties and achieved satisfactory results in 2017. He gladly informed the Conference that PVN also hit and exceeded 2017’s business targets in the face of many difficulties and challenges and PVFCCo had contributed positively to the overall success of PVN by its good results. Mr. Nguyen Vu Truong Son urged PVFCCo to make efforts in 2018 to promptly put NH3-NPK Complex Project into effective operation; to implement cost optimization; to restructure the mechanism, distribution system, to co-ordinate with the functional divisions of PVN to come up with a long-term picture of gas prices in an effort to contribute to energy security and agricultural security.

On behalf of PVFCCo’s leadership and employees, Mr. Le Cu Tan welcomed instructions from Mr. Nguyen Vu Truong Son and undertook to materialize them with specific actions and solutions.

In the program, Mr. Le Manh Hung on behalf of the PVN’s leaders awarded PVN’s emulation flag to the PVFCCo and a number of exemplary teams, Mr. Le Cu Tan on behalf of Party Committee awarded the Certificates of Merit to several exemplary teams.
