According to information from the Central Health Protection Council, despite the efforts of the Party, the State, a team of dedicated professors and doctors, and the wholehearted care of his family, General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng has passed away at 13:38 on July 19, 2024, at the Central Military Hospital 108, at the age of 80, after a period of illness.

In 2006, the Phú Mỹ Fertilizer Plant, part of PVFCCo, a significant project in the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry and a symbol of the industrial-agricultural alliance, was honored to receive a visit from Nguyễn Phú Trọng, then a member of the Politburo and Chairman of the National Assembly.

On the morning of December 20, 2006, Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyễn Phú Trọng visited and worked at the Phú Mỹ Fertilizer Plant (Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu), one of the four projects listed as key national projects.

Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyễn Phú Trọng expressed his pleasure to see that after three years of operation, the Phú Mỹ Fertilizer Plant had achieved many encouraging results with a total investment of 370 million USD; employing over 1,000 staff members and workers; and utilizing modern production technology from Denmark and Italy. In 2006 alone, the Plant achieved a production output of over 600,000 tons of fertilizer, a revenue of over 2,800 billion VND, and a profit of over 650 billion VND, initially establishing and affirming the brand of Phú Mỹ fertilizer, and winning many awards such as “Farmers’ Fertilizer of Vietnam,” “High-Quality Vietnamese Goods,” and “Golden Buffalo of Vietnam.” Currently, Phú Mỹ fertilizer holds 40% of the domestic market share.

The Chairman of the National Assembly hoped that in the coming time, the Plant would continue to improve the quality and competitiveness of Phú Mỹ fertilizer products, especially with Vietnam’s accession to the WTO. He also emphasized the need for the Plant to ensure absolute safety for workers and to protect the living environment, as these are pressing issues that need addressing in many industrial zones today.
