The program named “going to school with farmers’ children” in the school year of 2013 – 2014 was hosted by PVFCCo and PVFCCo SE and brought to poor school students at Long An province’s borderland communes and districts. This association with and contribution to the community started from the first days of August, 2013 to assist 600 poor yet hardworking school students right before the new school year begins.
To join the program, many parents had to get up at such an early hour to get their children prepared to receive gift for living in remote areas where there has not been any means of transport and road is hard to go in rainy season. The gifts the children received were meaningful though small because many did not have notebooks and school bags even when the new school year was approaching. Each gift consisted of 20 notebooks and 300,000 VND in cash. With 600 gifts for Long An, the company assisted the students with over 240 million VND. One of the school principles shared: “The gifts that Phu My fertilizer gave the students have great meaning. This is an on time encouragement to poor students faced by hardship to go to school and knowledge.”
