On July 29th 2011, Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo – stock code: DPM) held the ceremony of launching Cambodia Branch at the Sofitel Hotel in Phnom Penh. The participants of the ceremony were Madam Men Sam On – Cambodia Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Keo Sok Nay – secretaryof State of Cambodia Trade Ministry, Mr. Yuth Bou Thang – secretaryof State of Cambodia Agriculture Forestry Fishery Ministry, Mr. Ngo Anh Dzung – Ambassador of Vietnam in Cambodia, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Bien – Deputy Minister of Vietnam Industry and Commerce, Mr. Vu Mao – Chairman of Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang – Member of Petrovietnam’s BoD, Mr. Nguyen Sinh Khang – Vice President of Petrovietnam, Mr. Bui Minh Tien –Chairman of PVFCCo, as well as representatives of PVFCCo partners in Cambodia and press agencies. More than a year ago, on May 7th 2010, the representative office of the corporation in Phnom Penh officially opened. For the past year, the representative office has launched a lot of programs to establish and strengthen the PVFCCo’s image in the domestic market, especially the technology transfer program for Khmer farmers and social security programs. In order to expand activity in Cambodia, PVFCCo leaders have decided to upgrade the representative office to the corporation branch with sufficient business functions such as import – export, direct product distribution. At the launching ceremony, the representative leader of Cambodia Agriculture Forestry Fishery Ministry granted the business license and the fertilizer import export license for the branch. The branch is permitted to import 35,000 tons of urea and 5,000 tons of NPK urea within the next 12 months. Mr. Pham Quy Hien, Branch Manager, signed the memorandum with two big urea dealers – Heng Pich Chhay (Ta Keo province) and Chhun Sok An (Kandal province). Also at the launching ceremony, through the representative of Battambang Agriculture Service, the Corporation offered symbolically farmers in Battambang 25 tons of Phu My Urea. The official offering ceremony will be held in the forthcoming time. Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Minh Tien, PVFCCo’s Chairman affirmed that the establishment of the branch in Cambodia expressed the determination of presence of the corporation and the long-term operation here. This is a new landmark in the way of expanding the market overseas of the Corporation, first of all to the countries in the region with strength in agriculture such as Cambodia, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.
