Petrotimes – On October 30, Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) in cooperation with the Quang Ngai Province Red Cross have directly paid visits, encouraged and donated 10 million VND to the family with 3 members killed by boat capsize in the Tropical Storm Son-Tinh in an effort to share their great losses. This amount was deducted from PVFCCo Social Welfare Fund.
In the afternoon and evening of October 28, due to the effects of Tropical Storm Son-Tinh, Quang Ngai province had strong winds at grades 7-8 and high waves at sea. In the afternoon of October 28, Mrs. Vo Thi Tinh (30 years old, at Pho Minh commune, Duc Pho district) together with her daughter Truong Ngoc Anh took a visit of her parents at Du Quang village, Pho Quang commune, Duc Pho district. When having reached the Thoa river bank, she called her father, Mr. Vo Van Hung (57 years old), to pick up them.
Mr. Hung rowed the boat across the river to Pho Minh commune. Mrs. Tin, her daughter and her bicycle were loaded on the boat, then Mr Hung rowed back to Pho Quang commune. However, when the boat was in the middle of the river, strong winds suddenly hit them. At this time, Mrs Tin was hugging her child when the wind knocked them down into the river. Mr Hung immediately jumped into the river to save them. Because of deep river and strong winds, three of them were carried away and drowned.
