Ho Chi Minh City, May 20th, 2014 – PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo – stock code DPM, Phu My fertilizer producer and trader)announces that PVFCCO’s personnel have raised fund worth VND 300 million to support Vietnam Coast Guard and Fisheries Resources Surveillance.

From early 5/2014, China moved its Haiyan 981 (HD-981) oil rig to the drilling location at 15029’ North latitude and 111012’ East longitude,120 nautical miles from the coastline of Vietnam, well within the exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of Vietnam. China’s placement of its oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf along escorted by vessels including warships and fighter jets for protection has seriously violated Vietnam’s sovereign right and jurisdiction, the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Declaration on the Conduct of the Parties in the East Vietnam Sea (DOC). In dealing with such illicit actions by China, Vietnam Coast Guard and Fisheries Resources Surveillance when carrying out the mission to protect the country’s sovereignty have been rammed and fired with water cannons by Chinese vessels, resulting in damage to equipment as well as injuriesto many men in service. Reflecting the citizen responsibilities and patriotism, all PVFCCO’s personnel have enthusiastically joined in the program initiated by Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group and PetroVietnam Trade Union to support Vietnam Coast Guard and Fisheries Resources Surveillance. At the end of the program, VND 300 million has been raised by PVFCCO’s personnel. This amount has been immediately transferred to PetroVietnam Trade Union, contributing to efforts of oil and gas workers in donating funds to Vietnam Coast Guard and Fisheries Resources Surveillance.

Mr.LeCuTan, Party Committee Secretary – Chairman of PVFCCo said: ”The amount of VND 300 million raised by PVFCCO’s personnel together with the high-speed patrol boat worth VND12 billion presented by PVFCCo to Vietnam Coast Guard on 10/05/2014 has reflected our solidarity spirit in protection of Vietnam’s sea and islands, contributed to support and encouragement to the patrol forces at seas to protect the sacred sovereignty of the nation.”
