In the afternoon of 15 December 2014, Central PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Joint Stock Company (PVFCCo Central) – an affiliate of PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo), in collaboration with Binh Dinh Province People”s Committee held a ceremony to donate an amount of VND 100 million to poor households having their houses collapsed in the Tropical Storm Sinlaku in Binh Dinh.
Addressing the ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha – Vice Chairwoman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee recognized and highly evaluated PVFCCo Central’s timely contribution and support to relieve hardship of the households caused by the Tropical Storm Sinlaku as well as its social security activities in Binh Dinh over the years. On the other hand, she also wished PVFCCo Central to further promote its achievements in business activities, well perform its tasks in stabilizing prices, eliminate counterfeits and poor quality fertilizer products causing damage to farmers, and constantly make positive contributions to socio-economic development in Binh Dinh Province in general.
Also within the program, PVFCCo Central donated, in an effort to share and partially support the medical treatment expenses of patients from poor households, an amount of VND 30 million to Binh Dinh’s Poor Patient Support Fund.
Reportedly, the Tropical Storm Sinlaku directly hit the two provinces of Binh Dinh and Phu Yen on 29 November 2014 with strong wind at levels 10 – 11. As reported by Binh Dinh People”s Committee, the province saw 136 houses collapsed, 251 houses with their roofs blown off, 9 boats capsized, 2,137 hectares of new sowing rice inundated, some coastal dykes and river canals fell apart, resulting in an estimated damage of VND 80 billion in total.
