In the morning of August 04, 2017, at the Head Office of PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo), the Board of the Corporation held a meeting with the mission of PetroVietnam Securities Incorporated (PSI) and its partner, SMBC Nikko Singapore.
Among the attendants at the meeting, there were, from PVFCCo, Mr. Nguyen Van Tong – Vice President, together with Heads of Functional Division and IT team; from PSI, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – Chairman; and from SMBC Nikko Singapore, Mr. Hiromi Sato – Director, Mr. Brian Loo – M&A Consulting Director, and Mr. Kagyo Takamitsu – M&A Consulting Representative cum Advisor and Sectarian of SMBC Nikko to PSI, together with staff of PSI;
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Tong presented a brief summary of capital investment and construction activities and construction progress of the existing key projects of PVFCCo, as well as information on restructuring plan of the Corporation in 2017-2020 period. PSI also gave a brief overview of its values in supporting PetroVietnam’s affiliates/subsidiaries with its market research products. Particularly, as the entity assigned by PVN to develop and operate PVN-Index for purpose of the upcoming derivative operation, PSI discussed with PVFCCo about PVN-Index and the significance, development prospect, and role of this indicator set for derivative market. At the same time, two parties exchanged further information on image branding, public relations, image promotion, investor relations, and media efforts to promote PVN-Index; strengths and weaknesses, and improvements to be taken to meet the requirements of each member company in Petrol industry.
After giving a brief introduction to SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. at the meeting, Mr. Hiromi Sato said that SMBC Nikko had much experience in M&A consulting and a widespread network of relationships with many enterprises in the world, which had used M&A services offered by SMBC Nikko. According to him, SMBC Nikko would serve as the link between Japanese enterprises that wanted to participate in restructuring process in Vietnam and Vietnamese enterprises in Petroleum industry. Mr. Hiromi Sato also promised that SMBC Nikko would assist PVFCCo in searching for strategic partners providing a portfolio of similar products with those of PVFCCo so that PVFCCo could enforce its restructuring process effectively.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan said thanks to the warm welcome and useful information shared by PVFCCo, and committed to further clarify the role of the indicator set and recommend several tools for best utilization of the indicator set.
