After a long period of hard work, sweat, and tears, the rice grains are dried, milled, and result in batches of pure, beautiful, and fragrant white rice. This happiness cannot be expressed in words by every rice farmer.
To achieve such a prosperous harvest season, farmers in the coastal region of Central Vietnam have been proactive in every crop, diligently sowing and harvesting rice at the right time. In other words, they have become “Farmers 4.0” because they know how to apply the “1 MUST – 5 REDUCTIONS” program:
MUST: Use certified rice varieties. REDUCTIONS:
- Reduce the amount of seed used for sowing.
- Reduce the use of fertilizers.
- Reduce water consumption through alternate wetting and drying techniques.
- Reduce the frequency of pesticide use.
- Minimize post-harvest losses.
