On May 19, 2023, in Cam Xuyen town, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh, Northern Petroleum Chemicals and Fertilizer Company (PVFCCo-PMB) in collaboration with the town’s People’s Committee and other stakeholders organized a workshop to summarize “The 50-hectare large sample field model of high-quality rice using NPK Phu My” in the spring crop of 2023.
Attending the seminar were Mr. Pham Van Dan – Secretary of the Party Committee of Cam Xuyen town, representatives of leaders of PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemical Corporation (PVFCCo), PVFCCo-PMB, and leaders of local departments
In 2023 Spring, PVFCCo-PMB collaborated with the People’s Committee of Cam Xuyen town and Phu My Fertilizer Distributor in Ha Tinh to establish a large-scale model of high-quality rice production on 50 hectares of land in Residential group 3 and Residential group 5. Two high-quality rice varieties, RVT and Bac Thinh, were chosen for cultivation, both utilizing Phu My NPK fertilizer for the base and top dressing. The results showed that the rice plants had a growth period of 124 days, with a yield of 70 quintal per hectare, achieving higher economic efficiency compared to other rice fields not using NPK Phu My. The rice plants also exhibited good color retention, slow leaf senescence, robust growth, and better resistance to pests and diseases such as blasts, bacterial blight, and leaf folders. Moreover, the investment cost in fertilizers and plant protection chemicals was lower compared to fields using other types of fertilizers.
At the seminar, representatives from the People’s Committee of Cam Xuyen town and PVFCCo-PMB gathered to assess and analyze the factors influencing the implementation process. They discussed and proposed various options to replicate the model, with a focus on establishing collaborations with multiple enterprises to jointly build the high-quality rice brand of Cam Xuyen town. The large-scale model in Cam Xuyen town is a rare success in terms of both quality and productivity, achieving favorable harvests and prices. It is also the first 3 reductions, 3 increases model in Cam Xuyen town, meaning it reduces the amount of fertilizer, reduces the number of seeds used, and decreases the cost of plant protection chemicals while increasing yield, quality, and overall efficiency.
At the end of the seminar, the People’s Committee of Cam Xuyen town expresses sincere gratitude for the support and, at the same time, hopes that PVFCCo-PMB will continue to accompany and assist the local farmers in the future to spread the effectiveness of the model not only in Residential group 3 and Residential group 5 but throughout Cam Xuyen town and other areas in the district.
