PVFCCo - Phú Mỹ Strengthens Agricultural Development Cooperation in Laos
Vietnam-Laos friendly relations continue to flourish, and agricultural economic cooperation between the two nations is expanding steadily. Petrochemical Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation - Vietnam (PVFCCo - Phú Mỹ) is progressively establishing the role of Vietnam's fertilizer brand as a steadfast partner with Laotian farmers in improving production efficiency and fostering modern agricultural development.
In recent years, Phú Mỹ has implemented a systematic expansion strategy in Laos, not only supplying high-quality fertilizer products but also actively promoting technology transfer, soil surveys, and developing nutrient solutions tailored to the actual cultivation conditions of different regions and crop types.
In early 2026, a Phú Mỹ working delegation conducted direct field surveys in the sugarcane material zone of TTC Attapeu and the high-altitude Bolaven coffee region of Lào-Bidina Company to assess soil conditions, fertilizer use effectiveness, and the specific nutritional requirements of crops. Survey results revealed that many sugarcane fields using Phú Mỹ fertilizer in Attapeu demonstrated uniform growth, robust root development, and yield improvements exceeding 10% compared to previous seasons. Meanwhile, field surveys in Bolaven are laying crucial groundwork for Phú Mỹ to develop more appropriate nutrient solutions for coffee cultivation in the region.
Building on this cooperative framework, from May 19–22, 2026, Phú Mỹ coordinated with TTC Attapeu, Lào-Bidina Company, and the Western Highlands Agriculture-Forestry Science and Technology Institute (WASI) to implement two priority initiatives in Laos: organizing technical advisory workshops on sugarcane cultivation in the TTC Attapeu material zone and deploying demonstration models using Phú Mỹ fertilizer on coffee crops in Sekong Province.
These activities not only help promote the image of Vietnam's high-quality fertilizer brand but also reflect Phú Mỹ's long-term commitment to partnering with stakeholders and Laotian farmers to develop green, efficient, and sustainable agriculture.
Positive Results in the Attapeu Sugarcane Material Zone
One of the program's standout highlights is the tangible results achieved in the TTC Attapeu sugarcane material zone. According to assessments from the 2025 harvest season, in Sugarcane Material Station No. 1 under TTC Attapeu, fields receiving Phú Mỹ's complete fertilizer package combined with scientific care protocols achieved the highest average yield across the entire region, reaching 75 tons/hectare.
This outcome not only delivered tangible economic benefits to local communities but also strengthened farmers' confidence in adopting advanced cultivation practices. Entering the 2026 season, these fields continue to receive Phú Mỹ's nutrient solutions to maintain yields and enhance cultivation efficiency.
On this foundation, during May 19–20, 2026, Phú Mỹ and its partners organized technical workshops at Sugarcane Material Stations No. 1 and No. 3 in the Attapeu sugarcane material zone, attracting a large attendance of farmers, local government representatives, and agricultural experts.
At the program, Phú Mỹ representatives presented an overview of PVFCCo - Phú Mỹ, production capacity, core fertilizer product systems, and the company's technical guidance vision for Laotian farmers going forward. Experts also shared practical content on sugarcane care procedures, from land preparation and variety selection to irrigation management and pest disease control.
Phú Mỹ representatives introduced flagship product lines such as Phú Mỹ Nitrogen and NPK Phú Mỹ enriched with secondary and micronutrients, while providing technical guidance on proper timing and dosage application to optimize nutrient absorption and enhance cultivation efficiency.
Within the program, Phú Mỹ technical staff collaborated with TTC Attapeu's technical team to measure soil nutrition directly in sugarcane fields, thereby providing recommendations for fertilizer use aligned with actual soil nutrient status and crop growth requirements.
Additionally, Kubota Company presented mechanization solutions for agricultural production. The integration of nutrient solutions, cultivation techniques, and mechanization delivered a more comprehensive approach for farmers in sugarcane production.
Beyond technical sharing in the workshop hall, the demonstration of mechanical fertilizer application directly in the field captured particular attention. The atmosphere became lively as Kubota's advanced fertilizer application equipment began operating directly on Attapeu sugarcane fields. The machinery performed synchronized operations of row opening, nutrient placement in the root zone, and soil coverage, ensuring fertilizer was positioned correctly while minimizing nutrient loss through evaporation under hot conditions or leaching during rainy seasons. This process enables sugarcane to absorb nutrients more efficiently, while reducing labor, optimizing production costs, and enhancing cultivation efficiency for farmers.
Direct observation of field-operational models helped farmers easily visualize effectiveness and applicability to local production. Many farmers actively engaged with experts about fertilizer application techniques, mechanization, and care methods to improve crop yields.
Following the workshop, delegates and farmers visited demonstration sugarcane fields currently using Phú Mỹ fertilizer in the area around Material Station No. 1. The program also distributed gifts to participating farmers in a warm and open atmosphere.
Through the series of activities in Attapeu, Phú Mỹ not only transferred technical knowledge but also reinforced trust through actual results from implemented models, contributing to increased yields in the sugarcane material zone and advancing sustainable agricultural development locally.
Applying Digital Technology in Coffee Cultivation in Sekong
Alongside activities in Attapeu, in Sekong Province, Phú Mỹ coordinated with WASI and Lào-Bidina Company to deploy two demonstration models using Phú Mỹ fertilizer on Arabica and Robusta coffee—high-value economic crops of the region.
Accordingly, Phú Mỹ partnered with WASI and Lào-Bidina to collect soil samples for in-depth analysis, thereby developing appropriate nutrient protocols and supplying fertilizer materials according to requirements for the two coffee models deployed in Sekong.
A highlight of the program is the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence in soil nutrient assessment, supporting recommendations for appropriate cultivation solutions. Phú Mỹ experts used intelligent soil nutrient measurement equipment to rapidly analyze soil conditions directly in orchards, thereby providing fertilization recommendations closely aligned with crop needs and specific soil conditions.
Concurrently with on-site rapid assessment, WASI experts collected soil samples from multiple areas across the Bolaven plateau—basaltic terrain at elevations of 800 to 1,350 meters with advantages for coffee development but also susceptible to nutrient leaching during rainy seasons. These soil samples will be studied in-depth in laboratories, providing a scientific foundation for developing optimized nutrient protocols for different production zones.
At the demonstration model, Phú Mỹ also introduced fertilizer lines suited to basaltic soil conditions and local climate, enabling coffee plants to absorb nutrients more effectively, grow uniformly, and enhance stress resilience. Simultaneously, the company proposed soil restoration solutions through combining soil nutrient measurement technology with Phú Mỹ organic fertilizer, aiming to improve soil fertility and promote sustainable cultivation practices.
On the partner side, Lào-Bidina Company shared additional practical experience in orchard management, variety rehabilitation, and new cultivation techniques for coffee. These two demonstration models serve not only as practical pilot initiatives but also establish important foundations for upcoming workshops, training programs, and technology transfer efforts.
Affirming Long-term Partnership with Laotian Agriculture
The series of activities in Laos during May 2026 continues to demonstrate Phú Mỹ's consistent direction: not merely supplying fertilizer products, but advancing toward providing comprehensive nutrient solutions tailored to each crop type, each land area, and specific cultivation conditions.
The tangible results in Attapeu's sugarcane zone and experimental models on coffee in Sekong serve as evidence of an approach centered on farmer production effectiveness. Through coordination among fertilizer manufacturers, trading partners, scientific institutions, and farmers, the "4-house linkage" model that Phú Mỹ is implementing in Laos is progressively demonstrating impact, helping translate scientific and technical advances into practical agricultural production.
Moving forward, Phú Mỹ will continue expanding operations in many other localities across Laos, researching additional specialized fertilizer lines, and strengthening agricultural technical services for major crops. This represents not only a step to reinforce Vietnam's high-quality fertilizer brand position in the regional market, but also reflects Phú Mỹ's long-term commitment to partnering with farmers and contributing to deepening and solidifying Vietnam-Laos friendship.
