Phu My Fertilizer Expands Presence in Laos: Targeting Product Supply, Technical Support, and Sustainable Development
Earlier this year, a working delegation from Phu My, alongside partner Thien Long Trading Co., Ltd., visited Laos. The delegation held strategic working sessions with Laos Bidina Co., Ltd. in the Bolaven Plateau (Sekong Province) and TTC Attapeu Sole Member Co., Ltd., an AgriS subsidiary in Attapeu Province.
The business trip aimed to survey soil conditions, evaluate fertilizer efficacy, and forge long-term strategic partnerships with local entities. This initiative builds a collaborative framework to advance Laotian agriculture efficiently and sustainably.
Bolaven Coffee Plateau
The delegation first visited the Bolaven Plateau. Agricultural experts consider this area a "golden land" for coffee cultivation due to its fertile basalt soil, an altitude ranging from 800 to 1,350 meters, and a year-round cool climate.
Bidina, a Vietnamese enterprise investing in Laos since 2005, operates here. The company currently manages over 2,500 hectares of rubber and is actively expanding into Robusta coffee cultivation.

During the session, the parties discussed crop restructuring plans, the adaptability of Robusta coffee to Sekong Province's soil, and the necessity of establishing precise nutritional protocols for the initial transition phase.
Phu My’s expert delegation conducted direct field surveys of Phu My fertilizer application models on Bidina's coffee farms. They assessed plant growth, root systems, and flowering and fruiting potential.
Field observations confirmed relatively uniform growth across the coffee plantations, characterized by thick foliage and robust branches.
A Bidina representative stated that the company is executing the transition cautiously. They prioritize pilot planting and monitoring prior to large-scale replication to mitigate risks and ensure long-term viability.
Phu My customized its Urea and NPK product lines, supplementing them with secondary and micro-nutrients to suit the basalt soil and high-rainfall conditions of Bolaven. This targeted formulation optimizes nutrient absorption and minimizes leaching losses.
Attapeu Sugarcane Region
In Attapeu Province, the delegation collaborated with Attapeu Company, an AgriS subsidiary and a major agricultural enterprise in Laos.
The visit aligned with the peak sugarcane crushing season. During this period, the factory operates continuously, and the sugarcane fields enter the harvesting phase.

Both sides deliberated on balanced fertilization solutions tailored to each sugarcane growth stage. They also mapped out strategies to secure fertilizer supply during peak seasons and rollout technical support programs for farmers.
Discussions expanded into land management, soil fertility enhancement, and the alignment of agricultural production with environmental and social criteria (ESG).
The Phu My delegation directly inspected sugarcane fields applying Phu My fertilizers. Initial data demonstrated uniform growth, sturdy stalks, and well-developed root systems. The equivalent yield increased by over 10%.
These metrics validate the efficacy of applying Phu My Urea and NPK correctly on the soil of Southern Laos.
An AgriS Attapeu representative noted that partnering with Phu My equips the enterprise with highly systematic nutritional solutions. It establishes a solid foundation for standardizing farming protocols tailored to the region's specific climate.

Parallel to commercial operations, the delegation coordinated with AgriS Attapeu to inaugurate an RO clean water supply facility with a capacity of 500 liters per hour for Khamvongsa village (Phouvong District, Attapeu Province).
This project supplies domestic water to approximately 3,350 local residents. Provincial authorities highly commended the initiative for its profound, practical impact on community health and living standards.
Following the missions, a Phu My representative stated that operations in Laos have significantly deepened the corporation's understanding of local soil characteristics, seasonal cycles, and the practical demands of farming communities.
"We do not merely supply products; we engineer nutritional solutions tailored to specific crops and terrains. Simultaneously, we collaborate with partners to execute technical support and community development initiatives."
These initial outcomes establish a baseline to broaden collaborative models and refine fertilizer formulas for specialized crop requirements across Laos.
Building on these preliminary successes, Phu My and Bidina seek a long-term partnership focused on Robusta coffee cultivation in the Bolaven Plateau. The partners plan to advance joint research, perfecting specialized fertilizer formulas that integrate local soil properties with international technical standards.
For the Attapeu sugarcane region, Phu My and AgriS will continue to optimize land use efficiency, enhance soil fertility, and deploy technical support programs for farmers, firmly anchoring operations in sustainable development.
