Phu My - AgriS Attapeu: A Green Journey Elevating Southern Lao Sugarcane to New Heights
(PetroTimes) - In the early days of 2026, a delegation from PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo - Phu My), in collaboration with Thien Long Trading Co., Ltd (Phu My’s distributor in Central Vietnam), departed for Laos to implement a series of survey, networking, and cooperation promotion activities in the agricultural sector.
The mission aims not only to expand the market for Phu My fertilizer products but also to demonstrate a long-term commitment to accompanying the neighboring country's agriculture toward efficiency, sustainability, and environmental friendliness.
Led by Mr. Vo Ngoc Phuong, Vice President of PVFCCo - Phu My, the delegation included unit leaders and experienced technical teams deeply connected to key agricultural production regions. Each trip carries the expectation of "sowing a bumper harvest" while nurturing and strengthening solid cooperative relationships.
From Bo Y Border Gate to Attapeu: Paving the Way for a Green Journey
Starting from the Bo Y border gate—the junction of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia—the delegation traveled to Attapeu Province (Laos). The winding mountain passes, the characteristic basalt red soil of Southern Laos, and the dust trailing behind the wheels reflect challenging infrastructure conditions, yet also reveal the vast potential of this land for large-scale agricultural development.
Throughout the journey, team members clearly felt that this was a concrete step in the strategy to expand the market and build a sustainable agricultural value chain that Phu My is persistently pursuing in the region.
After hours of travel, the delegation arrived at TTC Attapeu One Member Co., Ltd—a subsidiary of AgriS and one of the large-scale agricultural enterprises in Laos. Arriving exactly at the peak of the sugarcane crushing season, the factory operated at an urgent, continuous pace. From vast sugarcane fields, convoys of raw materials lined up to deliver cane to the factory; modern production lines operated in sync, creating a stable and efficient production rhythm.
Amidst this vibrant working atmosphere, the Phu My delegation was particularly impressed by the "Energy Station - Starting the Golden Season" program implemented right on the factory premises. Moving beyond formal slogans, the program was materialized through simple yet practical relief points offering fruit juice, fresh sugarcane juice, milk tea, and nutritional products manufactured by AgriS. These practical activities hold deep spiritual significance, motivating and energizing workers during the peak production phase.
The sincere and thoughtful reception served as the starting point for an open and trusting exchange between the two parties. From the very first minutes, the Phu My delegation sensed a spirit of companionship and sharing—a vital foundation for building and developing sustainable cooperation in agriculture.
From Field Stories to Long-term Cooperation Orientations
The working session between Phu My and AgriS Attapeu took place in an open and frank atmosphere, focusing on core agricultural issues such as land, seasons, crop nutrition, and long-term efficiency. Based on the reality of sugarcane cultivation in Attapeu, the two sides held in-depth discussions on the use of Phu My fertilizers, balanced fertilization solutions for each growth stage of the sugarcane, as well as business policies and transportation plans to ensure stable supply during peak seasons.
Notably, the discussions did not stop at immediate economic efficiency but expanded to technical support programs for farmers, sustainable farming consultancy, and the orientation for implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities locally. Soil health protection and restoration solutions are being implemented with a long-term focus, linking sustainable agricultural development with environmental and community responsibility—consistent with the green strategy pursued by both Phu My and AgriS.
As part of the mission, the Phu My delegation conducted field surveys at sugarcane fields currently using Phu My fertilizers. Initial results show a converted yield of approximately 110 tons/ha, higher than the regional average. The sugarcane fields, showing uniform growth, sturdy stalks, thick leaves, high set density, and healthy root systems, clearly reflect the effectiveness of Phu My Urea and NPK products when applied correctly on Southern Lao soil.
Amidst the characteristic heat of Attapeu, the lush green sugarcane fields are measured not just by yield, but as persuasive evidence of the partnership approach Phu My steadfastly follows: providing quality products combined with technical solutions, farming advice, and a persistent presence in the fields.
Spreading the Value of Sharing in Attapeu
Parallel to agricultural promotion activities, the Phu My delegation implemented a meaningful program in Khamvongsa Village, Phouvong District, Attapeu Province, by handing over a clean water system using RO technology with a capacity of 500 liters/hour, meeting daily living standards. This social welfare project, co-implemented by Phu My and AgriS Attapeu, aims to improve living conditions and protect the health of the local community.
The modern RO clean water system provides safe water for approximately 3,350 villagers who previously had to travel long distances or use unsafe water sources. The handover ceremony was attended by Ms. Minaphone Xaysomphou, Deputy Secretary of the Attapeu Provincial Party Committee, along with local leaders and many residents. Provincial government representatives highly appreciated the humanitarian significance of the project, viewing it as vivid proof of the social responsibility and enduring companionship of Vietnamese enterprises in Laos.
On this occasion, the leadership of Attapeu Province presented a Certificate of Merit to Phu My, recognizing its practical contributions to agricultural development support and local social welfare activities. Representing the delegation, Mr. Vo Ngoc Phuong, Vice President of PVFCCo - Phu My, affirmed that Phu My will continue to stay committed to and accompany the government, businesses, and people of Laos on the journey of sustainable development.
The moment the people of Khamvongsa Village used the first glasses of water from the newly installed RO clean water system left a deep emotional impact. It is not just a source of water for daily life, but a symbol of trust, connection, and the strong bond between the agricultural workers of Vietnam and Laos.
