PETROVIETNAM President and CEO Le Manh Cuong Inspects Operations at Phu My Fertilizer Plant and Nhon Trach 3 & 4 Power Plants

PVFCCo: Optimizing the Existing Platform, Expanding Growth Runway

At the Phu My Fertilizer Plant, Phan Cong Thanh, President and CEO of PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo), reported that the Corporation maintained stable production and business operations throughout the first seven months of the year. Turnaround and maintenance work exceeded projected schedules, while manufacturing volumes across all product lines surpassed operational targets. Commercial activities were steered dynamically, driving up domestic fertilizer and chemical consumption and lifting export volume to approximately 160,000 tons.

PVFCCo outperformed five out of five executive governance targets over the seven-month period and remains on course to complete all annual targets assigned by the Group for 2026.

Elaborating on plant performance, Le Trong Dinh Chi, Director of Phu My Fertilizer Plant, noted that innovation and digital transformation initiatives gathered strong momentum, delivering 536 technical initiatives and ideas over the seven-month span. The plant completed its Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) assessment, established a three-phase smart manufacturing roadmap, and is actively deploying data foundations alongside digital platforms to serve corporate governance, daily operations, and industrial safety.

Addressing the working session, PETROVIETNAM President and CEO Le Manh Cuong affirmed that the Group consistently prioritizes and will continue facilitating optimized gas supplies to secure PVFCCo’s uninterrupted manufacturing operations, especially as supplementary supply comes online from the Su Tu Trang (White Lion) Phase 2B project.

Acknowledging Phu My Fertilizer Plant’s modern technological foundation and more than 20 years of proven operational excellence, the President and CEO directed PVFCCo to sustain its spirit of continuous innovation, professionalize employee initiatives, and partner with specialized software enterprises to turn conceptual improvements into practical applications. He underscored the need to intensify mechanization and automation while optimizing existing infrastructure to elevate total production and commercial efficiency. Furthermore, he tasked the plant with stepping up cross-organizational exchanges and benchmarking with partners both inside and outside the Group to capture and implement best-in-class industry practices.

Concurrently, PVFCCo must expand strategic investments and develop new product lines to broaden its growth runway. The Corporation was instructed to capitalize on its core strengths to widen market reach—directing international commercial activities toward driving competitive, flagship products into global markets to reinforce brand equity and accelerate revenue growth. These initiatives will directly contribute to the Group's overarching growth objectives and international business expansion strategy.

Maximizing National Interests by Maximizing Domestic Gas, Optimizing LNG, and Maximizing Power Generation

At the Nhon Trach 3 & 4 Power Plants, Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Nhon Trach Petroleum Power Company (PV Power NT), reported on project construction progress, plant commercial operations, and current operating challenges. Following the achievement of full commercial operation in January 2026, Nhon Trach 3 & 4 have operated safely, with ongoing priorities focused on cost discipline, preventive maintenance, dispatch optimization, and energy efficiency.

Reporting on the performance of Nhon Trach 2 Power Plant, the executive leadership of Nhon Trach 2 Petroleum Power Joint Stock Company (PV Power NT2) highlighted that after 15 years of commercial operation, the facility maintains robust technical health and delivers steady, efficient performance, with flexible operational capacity ranging from 180 MW to 765 MW. In the first eight months of the year, gross electricity output reached approximately 2.9 billion kWh, with full-year production targeted at 4 billion kWh. NT2 leadership also presented operational bottlenecks and proposed key solutions to optimize fuel gas supply and enhance generation dispatch for gas-fired power plants.

To ensure efficient operations across the Nhon Trach power generation complex moving forward, executive leadership of PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) petitioned the Group to assist in resolving contractual bottlenecks related to Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Vietnam Electricity (EVN). PV Power also recommended reporting to relevant authorities to establish mechanisms for the efficient utilization of imported LNG from the Thi Vai LNG Terminal and enable LNG-to-power mobilization during high-demand system peaks.

Concluding the working session, PETROVIETNAM President and CEO Le Manh Cuong directed the leadership of PV Power and PV GAS to proactively align on joint solutions under their purview regarding gas allocations, gas pricing, transmission tariffs, and fuel supply plans. The President and CEO emphasized that "maximizing the collective national and group interest" serves as the foundational principle. All proposed solutions must adhere strictly to three operational pillars: maximizing domestic gas utilization, optimizing LNG sources, and maximizing total electricity output across PETROVIETNAM’s power fleet, including the Nhon Trach hub.

The Group CEO instructed PETROVIETNAM’s functional divisions to coordinate closely with PV Power and PV GAS to formulate sound, well-grounded advisory plans for executive review prior to formal engagements with ministries and state authorities. These solutions must be viewed holistically, aiming simultaneously to optimize the commercial efficiency of PETROVIETNAM’s gas infrastructure and power assets while safeguarding national energy security to support sustained economic development.
